Presented by: Michael Coppel Presents Hot on the heels of their two, triumphant, sell-out Auckland concerts at the Powerstation and Vector Arena, Pixies - Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering - announce they will return to New Zealand this August for one very special concert, in Christchurch. Following their resounding North Island reception The Pixies acknowledged a visit to the Mainland was mandatory. After the Christchurch concert, Pixies will headline at the Summersonic Festival in Japan. Formed in Boston in 1986, Pixies had a vast influence on bands like Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur and Weezer, and on the emergence of alternative and grunge rock. Disbanding in 1993 but reunited since 2004 they have become a huge drawcard in the UK, Europe and Australia. On their first ever visit to New Zealand this month, Pixies enthralled their devotees with a two hour setthat celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the seminal Doolittle album, featuring legendary tracks such as Debaser, Here Comes Your Man and Hey, plus a raft of B sides and more obscure numbers from their catalogue ("so obscure", joked Kim Deal, "we had to learn how to play them all over again"). In Christchurch, Pixies will perform an assortment of songs drawing from their vast catalogue. Pixies 'live' is everything one hopes for and so much more - definitely worth the wait! Presented by: MLK Entertainment Starring: UK's leading Pianist, Entertainer, and Actor Bobby Crush Directed by: Julian Woolford "BOBBY CRUSH MAKES AN IRRESISTIBLE LIBERACE"- Sunday Telegraph Liberace, Live from Heaven is the story of Lee Liberace- His Music-His Costumes-His Life. Tonight Liberace plays for his life...his eternal life! Bobby's latest show: "Liberace, Live From Heaven" premiered at London's Leicester Square Theatre in October 2009 for a limited season. Written especially for Bobby by respected playwright Julian Woolford, the one-man show was an imagining of Liberace's impact on Heaven following his ultimately demise in February 1987. This show received rare reviews. February 4, 1987: Liberace, Mr Showmanhsip arrives at the gates of Heaven and God tells him that he needs to play a little Gershwin before the angels decide if he gets in or not. It may sound like the opening of a joke but in fact, it is a synopsis of Julian Woolford's latest play, which essentially offers piano entertainer Bobby Crush the chance to bring back the legendary Liberace. For many years, Liberace was the highest paid entertainer in the world, providing performances that were as spectacular as they were gaudy. A flamboyant personality supported by a strong, musical technique, Liberace appealed to audiences around the world.
